A team of 25 students of KIIT University has cleared BAJA Virtual – 2013, a prestigious all-terrain vehicle design competition for third time. The event was held in Bangaluru. The finals are scheduled to be held at the National Automotive Test Tracks in Pithampur of Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district from February 20, 2014. The vehicle boasts of a 305 cc Briggs and Stratton engine with 10 Horse Power. It has centralized steering, independent suspension system in all four tires, four independent wheels, rear wheel drive and air shock absorbers. The seat and body of the vehicle are made of glass fiber composite for lightness and better strength. The Mechanical Engineering students under the guidance of Prof. Isham Panigrahi will be designing and fabricating the vehicle in the college manufacturing facility to compete with the 125 other teams from all across the country for the prestigious Mahindra and Mahindra Mini Baja SAE India 2013.
