Solar Lamps Distributed among KISS Students

Solar lamps were distributed among 25,000 students of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) by Dr. P. V. Ramesh, CMD, Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. at a programme here on April 20, 2017. The solar lamps were given away by Rural Electrification Corporation as a part of its CSR activities. The lamps have been made by Solar Energy Corporation of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ramesh said, “I have never seen such a huge tribal residential institution in my life. It not only provides free education to the tribal children, but also takes care of their all round development. The initiative taken by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KISS & KIIT for total transformation of tribal children is really praiseworthy”.

Among others, Mr. Sanjeev Garg, Executive Director (CSR & Finance), Rural Electrification Corporation; Surendra Pradhan, Chief Project Manager; R. N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT & KISS; Dr. Prashant Kumar Routray, CEO, KISS were also present on the occasion. 


KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI), under KIIT University, organized a B-Plan Competition under the aegis of their Social Incubation Program – INVENT, a joint initiative of DFID - UK & TDB – DST, supported by Villgro.

The Program was inaugurated by Professor Prasant Kumar Ghosh, Head of Social Work, Viswa Bharati University, Santiniketan in the presence of KIIT TBI team, industry partners, entrepreneurs and academicians. The keynote address was given by Mr. Srinivas G, Head INVENT, KIIT TBI.

The program witnessed final pitch and flash pitch encompassing different entrepreneurs. The winners along with the finalists were awarded cash prize of Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 1.00 lack.

Representatives from different E-cells of Odisha, early stage entrepreneurs, academicians and Industry partners attended the programme. Among others, Mr. Subhrakant Panda, Chairman – Odisha FICCI Council and Mr. Subrat Nayak, Chairman, Environment & Social Development Panel, NOCCI spoke on the occasion. The speakers emphasized on the social enterprises eco-system and KIIT TBI’s role in fostering the connect.

KIIT Law Students Repeat History, Win BCI National Moot Court Competition

Four years ago, in 2013, KIIT University created history by becoming the first Private University to win the prestigious Bar Council of India National Moot Court Competition. History has repeated itself as KIIT School of Law defeated one of the most reputed National Law Schools, NALSAR, Hyderabad in the finals of 33rd Bar Council of India National Moot Court Competition, held at ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad on April 2, 2017.

BCI’s All India Inter University Moot Court Competition is the most prestigious and awaited national level students’ academic event of its kind, attracting participation from all reputed law institutions, including National Law Schools, across the country. It is remarkable that KIIT School of Law has won this prestigious competition twice in four years.

Established in 2007, KIIT School of Law has emerged as a leading law school of the country, at par with National Law Schools, offering Integrated BA.LL.B, BBA.LL.B and BSc.LL.B. It is well-known for its world-class infrastructure, well-stacked library and excellent moot court facility, besides high quality faculty and teaching.

KIIT team comprised of Mr. Saunak Rajguru (Speaker, Third Year), Ms. Somabha Bandopadhyay (Speaker, Fourth Year) and Mr. Mohit Rai (Researcher, Fourth Year). They were assisted by a research team consisting of: Mr. Shivam Pandey, Ms. Madhurika Ray, Mr. Akanshit Jha, Mr. Amardeep, Mr. Abhishek Kumar, Mr. Subham Bhut and Mr. Kautilya Birat.

Ms. Bandopadhyay and Mr. Rajguru won the ‘Best Overall Female Speaker’ and ‘Best Overall Male Speaker’ award respectively. In addition, she was adjudged ‘Best Speaker (Fourth Round)’, while Mr. Rajguru bagged ‘Best Speaker (Third Round)’. KIIT Team also won ‘Best Memorial’ award in the Third Round.

Congratulating the winning team, Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS said, KIIT University strives to bring out the best in each and every student and has thoughtfully created student-friendly campus for this purpose. “You success will continue to inspire the coming batches”, he added, while thanking students, faculty and director of KIIT School of Law for their efforts.
