SUMMARY:2nd International Conference on Sustainability and Equity (ICSE-2021)
DESCRIPTION:EVENT INTRODUCTION 2nd International Conference on Sustainability and Equity (ICSE-2021) which will be held at KIIT Deemed to be University \,Bhubaneswar\, Odisha India \, from 17th- 18th December \, 2021\, jointly organised by World Leadership Academy and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University.\nIn contemporary modern world\, sustainability is a major concern for human being. Both history and literature indicate that human being has been doing activities those challenge its own existence survival\, and sustainability. Challenges such as climate change\, global warming\, resource scarcity\, increasing inequity\, social cleavages\, decreasing biodiversity and an ever increasing resource-rich lifestyle (Lorek & Fuchs\, 2011) have been challenging the human civilization’s sustainability. Sustainability can be explained as how natural systems function\, and produce everything that meet the needs of the current generation users without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs\, while keeping the system remain in balance. Sustainability takes into account how we need to live in synchronization with the natural world around us. In the contemporary world\, humanity uses about 40% more resources than nature can regenerate in a year (Global Footprint Network\, 2010). At some day\, the human civilization might be without its essential resources to survive and continue. These resources need to be optimally used and regenerated at the same rate as the rate of consumption or exhaustion. Not only the use of resources\, but also every activity\, practice\, technology\, and infrastructure has to be sustainable. Sustainability relates to equity. We can not have one without the other. Equity is about fairness among all. Inter generational equity i.e. a reasonable balance between satisfying our needs now and keeping and saving enough to provide for needs of the future generations is critical for sustainability. Furthermore\, for sustainability\, equity across forms of life such as humans and non-humans is as essential as equity across generations of human life. \nIn contemporary modern world\, with globalization\, digitalization\, advances in information\, technology and communication\, the whole world is moving towards becoming a global society. In such context\, increasing inequity\, social cleavages\, increasing intolerance\, poor resilience\, increasing nationalism\, eccentric governance have been challenging the sustainability of a global society. This conference aims to discuss the sustainability of human civilization with a focus on democracy\, citizenship behaviour\, and global society\, its challenges\, issues and possible way outs. \nICSE – 2021

SUMMARY:Waste Management and Sustainable Development (WMSD-2021)
DESCRIPTION:International Conference on Promoting Environmental Technologies for Waste Management and Sustainable Development (WMSD-2021) \n\n\n\nDate : 12th-13th December\, 2021 \nABOUT THE CONFERENCE\n\n\n\nEnvironmental and economic implications have compelled proper eco-friendly disposal of modern day wastes and also made it essential to come up with alternative waste management practices that reduce the environmental burden resulting from unwise waste disposal habits. Increasingly vigilant environmental regulators are imposing austere regulations for waste treatment prior to discharge coupled with escalation in the costs for direct disposal present two interrelated problems such as traditional practice of disposing waste loaded with pollutants need to be either discontinued or upgraded and incremental improvement in the waste management technologies\, which has always been a game of playing catch-up with the regulations\, have inflated infrastructure requirement and treatment cost significantly. Therefore\, rather than continuing slow evolution\, adaptation of a leapfrogging strategy could be more effective. Although a great deal of research in carried out in various academic and research institutions\, their practical applications is rather slow. Additionally\, proliferating global population coupled with high demand of commodities are depleting the natural resources in an alarming rate. Therefore\, there is an urgent need not only to develop suitable waste disposal strategy but also to augment the waste recycling technologies for resource recovery in a circular economy model. International Conference on Promoting Environmental Technologies for Waste Management and Sustainable Development (WMSD-2021) aims to bring together leading academicians\, scientists\, researchers\, industry experts and policy makers to exchange and share their experiences and on various aspects of Waste Management and Sustainable Development. SUMMARY:2nd National RURAL MANAGEMENT Konclave
DESCRIPTION:“The soul of India lives in its villages” (- Gandhiji). About two-third of Indian population live in rural areas. Over the years\, different development policies and programmes through various development agencies have brought a significant change in the life and the livelihoods in rural India. There has been an improvement in access to credit and many other financial services especially in rural areas. However\, the rural-urban divide in socio-economic conditions of people has been increasingly noticed. Interventions in rural contexts are still lacking innovation and collaboration. Adaptation of technology\, improvement of skill matching to the need of the emerging market and cost-effectiveness in managing credit are continued to be the gray areas in rural areas. Moreover\, COVID 19 has shaken the economy severely. The rural unorganized sector including the producers\, the consumers and the returned migrants still find difficulty in its rejuvenation. In this juncture\, discourse on the two important rural sub-sectors such as rural finance and rural livelihoods is felt to be very crucial. \n\n\nThe overall objective of the conclave is to bring the development/business practitioners\, the academicians and the students to a common platform and discourse on various challenges and way forward with special reference to rural finance and sustainable livelihoods.\n\nRead More

SUMMARY:International Conference On Sustainability and Equity : Digital Society
DESCRIPTION:International Conference On\n Sustainability and Equity : Digital Society\nTheme of the Conference: Digital Society\nIn contemporary modern world\, sustainability is a major concern for human being. \nRead More

SUMMARY:Webinar on Leadership With Humanism And Compassion: Transforming Lives Through Crisis
DESCRIPTION:Life in the lives of people is essential for sustainability of lives. If lives of people will be lifeless\, the lives will be at stake. Often in crisis\, people seem to lose life i.e. happiness\, positivity\, hope and interest in life. In such a situation of crisis\, mentors and guides play a crucial role in the lives of people. Leaders in organizations can play the roles of mentors to guide others through crisis. Crisis deprives people of their want\, luxury\, need and even essentials. Rumors propagate. Resources get scarce. People get panic. These situations need leaders with humanism and compassion. They need to be humans and behave as humans. They need to be emotionally intelligent. Being self aware and self regulated at one hand\, leaders need to be empathetic\, and selfless while having social skills and required motivation to transform the lives of people in crisis. Leaders need to build trust in people\, communicate the correct information\, need to make them feel strong\, motivate and inspire them\, focus on their priorities\, create hope and stand with them in the time of crisis. The people will follow the leader if they trust that the leader can make them through the crisis. This webinar will reflect on the aspects of leadership that will help transform the lives of people in crisis. \nRegister for event onlineSpeaker\nProf. (Dr.) Sasmita Samanta\nPro Vice Chancellor\, KIIT DU\nWebinar Coordinator\nProf. (Dr.) Jyotiranjan Gochhayat\nAsst. SUMMARY:National Seminar on Inclusiveness of the Differently Abled: Challenges and Opportunities in India
DESCRIPTION:Leaving no one behind itself draws our attention to the one of the most vulnerable sections of the society\, the differently-abled persons. Safeguarding their interests requires an entitlement monitoring of their actual needs rather than generalizing them with that of a common man. Given the fact that 2.68 crore population in India are affected by different forms of disabilities\, it is extremely vital that the design\, structure\, plan and implementation process of our schemes\, policies and programmes ensure cent percent inclusion of the differently abled persons living across all corners of our country. The fact that the PwDs are the most stringent victims of poverty and malnourishment also cannot be avoided. They are the worst sufferers of health hazards\, educational backwardness and remain economically down trodden. Moreover\, disabled women are most susceptible to different forms of gender based discrimination being it education\, employment\, social policy\, participation and decision making. \nRead more
