SUMMARY:DHARTI 2026 - Decolonising the Digital: Social Justice\, Inclusion\, and Equitable Knowledge Production
DESCRIPTION:The School of Liberal Studies\, KIIT Deemed to be University\, is proud to host DHARTI 2026\, the biennial conference of the Digital Humanities Alliance for Research and Teaching Innovations (DHARTI)\, from 18 to 20 December 2026\, in collaboration with DHARTI. The conference will examine the intersections of digital humanities\, social justice\, and inclusive knowledge production. It will engage with emerging debates on the role of digital technologies in research\, education\, and cultural practice\, with particular attention to the social and intellectual implications of digital transformation. \nThe Digital Humanities Alliance for Research and Teaching Innovations (DHARTI) is an Indian academic collective dedicated to advancing digital humanities scholarship and facilitating digital practices in the arts and humanities\, both within and beyond academic institutions. Its work includes supporting digital humanities projects\, developing research networks\, and creating opportunities for scholars to present\, discuss\, and extend their research. As a constituent organisation of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO)\, DHARTI also connects digital humanities scholarship in India with international academic networks. \nThe 2026 conference\, themed “Decolonising the Digital: Social Justice\, Inclusion\, and Equitable Knowledge Production”\, will critically examine the relationship between digital technologies\, power\, and knowledge. It will explore how digital environments shape the representation of histories\, languages\, and intellectual traditions\, while addressing questions of epistemic inequality\, cultural diversity\, and equitable access to knowledge. Featuring keynote addresses by distinguished scholars\, plenary sessions\, research presentations\, and specialised workshops\, the conference will offer opportunities for meaningful academic exchange among researchers\, educators\, and practitioners from India and abroad. Discussions will span decolonial approaches to digital scholarship\, artificial intelligence\, digital pedagogy\, and the challenges of developing more inclusive and equitable practices of knowledge production. \nBrochure

SUMMARY:51st ALL INDIA SOCIOLOGICAL CONFERENCE
DESCRIPTION:Culture\, Region and Pedagogy: Exploring the Future of Indian Sociology \nIt is a matter of great pride that the 51st All India Sociological Conference (51st AISC) of the Indian Sociological Society (ISS) will be hosted by the Department of Sociology\, School of Liberal Studies\, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University\, Bhubaneswar\, Odisha from December 27 to 29\, 2026. \nThe theme of the conference is Culture\, Region and Pedagogy: Exploring the Future of Indian Sociology. We are living through a period of rapid and significant social transformation. Across the globe\, the rise of new forms of populist politics and mobilisation\, the growing demand for specialised professional skills\, and the rise of digital platform economies have collectively reconfigured the fabric of everyday social reality. \nIn their influential work On Decoloniality (2018)\, Walter D. Mignolo and Catherine E. Walsh observe that we are witnessing a “pluriversality of social problems”. In simple terms\, this means that complex socio-human challenges can no longer be conceptualised through a single\, universal model. Rather\, localised crises — whether a regional ecological change\, local caste resentments or neighbourhood-level housing struggles — are conditioned by their own unique specific historical and social contexts while remaining deeply tied to worldwide economic and political shifts. The world is not a uniform whole; it is a “pluriverse” made up of many interconnected worlds\, each requiring empirically grounded sociological analysis. \nThe theme of the 51st All India Sociological Conference (2026) builds directly upon this intellectual heritage. It explores how local cultural expressions\, regional specificities and classroom teaching practices can shape the future of Indian sociology in an interconnected yet fragmented world. The conference will be attended by national and international delegates\, including renowned sociologists\, professors\, researchers\, and students. The collective expertise of the scholars would help the participants to engage and extend the discourses within sociology.  \nBrochure
