SUMMARY:Film and Theater and Club Lecture Series
DESCRIPTION:BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL: INDIAN CINEMA IN PROJECTING WOMEN EMANCIPATION \nLECTURE I: “GENDER BENDER LATE BOLLYWOOD“ DR. AMIT RANJAN\nASSISTANT PROFESSOR\, NCERT \nDr Amit Ranjan is a poet and writer. He’s been a recipient of Fulbright\, Inlaks\, and Endeavour Fellowships. His collection of poems ‘Find Me Leonard Cohen\, I’m Almost Thirty (2018) received good reviews. His upcoming works are a biography of John Lang\, another of Dara Shikoh\, and a collection of essays. Currently he is an Assistant Professor of English at NCERT. \nThe pun in ‘late’ here should be obvious. ‘Late Bollywood’ like ‘late capitalism ’ is the scourge of the single screen– that’ s to demonstrate modernity ’ s home tricks. But let’s pick the other meaning where Bollywood\, despite reveling in its newfound OTT mindless-abuse-and-sex genre\, faces the threat of becoming ‘late’ in that it has fed generations of people with the (b)romance of patriarchy. Films like Thappad\, Pink\, Lipstick Under My Burkha\, Saand Ki Aankh and more have stared back at the male gaze (of course problematically still theoretically) and have unleashed the possibility of throwing Amitabh Bachchan with Mard tattooed on his chest into the realm of improbable fantasy – that actually almost happens in “Mard ko Dard Nahi Hota” with a karate champion girl knocking all Mards out of the ring. Qissa\, a Punjabi Canadian film (it’d be travesty to call it Bollywood by any stretch) is definitionally gender bender – it burns down patriarchy in its own haunt\, and goes so far as to seek asexual agency for its protagonist. \nRegister NowBrochureMeeting Link

SUMMARY:2nd National RURAL MANAGEMENT Konclave
DESCRIPTION:“The soul of India lives in its villages” (- Gandhiji). About two-third of Indian population live in rural areas. Over the years\, different development policies and programmes through various development agencies have brought a significant change in the life and the livelihoods in rural India. There has been an improvement in access to credit and many other financial services especially in rural areas. However\, the rural-urban divide in socio-economic conditions of people has been increasingly noticed. Interventions in rural contexts are still lacking innovation and collaboration. Adaptation of technology\, improvement of skill matching to the need of the emerging market and cost-effectiveness in managing credit are continued to be the gray areas in rural areas. Moreover\, COVID 19 has shaken the economy severely. The rural unorganized sector including the producers\, the consumers and the returned migrants still find difficulty in its rejuvenation. In this juncture\, discourse on the two important rural sub-sectors such as rural finance and rural livelihoods is felt to be very crucial. \n\n\nThe overall objective of the conclave is to bring the development/business practitioners\, the academicians and the students to a common platform and discourse on various challenges and way forward with special reference to rural finance and sustainable livelihoods.\n\nRead More

SUMMARY:1st National Businesses Analytics Konclave
DESCRIPTION:The technological advancement has brought two contrasting changes related to data: the data acquisition capability\, its storage and analysis have gone up manifolds while the costs for all these activities have come down significantly. Consequently\, there is abundance of data everywhere. What is the big deal here? Can the industry use such data in silo or at an enterprise level for maximizing productivity? Are there any such visible trends where organizations actually get the benefit compared to that in earlier business practices? Every startup now-a-days\, claims to be data-driven. Many established organizations are also quickly trying to adopt data and analytics. Most would agree that ‘data-driven decision making’ is superior to other forms. However\, the key to using data for decision making doesn’t lie only in the data part of the equation. What’s the hard part then? Data needs to be effectively segregated from noise for disseminating information and translating into insights. More importantly data can act as a foundation for making decisions\, although not as a substitute for judgement. \nHow much data is reasonably enough? What are the challenges for gathering relevant data? Is the opportunity cost justified by shifting the focus to Business Analytics? What happens if a sector doesn’t adopt and prefer to remain traditional as earlier? What sort of technological adoptions are happening in the business ecosystems? What are the major skill sets expected by the industries in Business Analytics domain? Are the academics adequately able to provide right talents? How does the ‘mindset\, skillset\, toolset’ of the future look like? \nThe 1st National Business Analytics Conclave at KIIT School of Management\, KIIT Deemed to be University would provide a forum to debate on these questions and many more with an aim to gain an understanding in helping organizations/employees get better prepared for the future. The Konclave will have two panel discussions and an array of workshops to discuss on the various aspects of the theme. \nRead More

SUMMARY:11th National Finance Konclave on Re-imagining Opportunities in the Shadow of Uncertainty: An Emerging Economy Perspective
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 pandemic has created difficult conditions in almost all sectors of the global economy. It has changed many aspects of the economy and society\, some perhaps permanently. Over the last 9 months the pandemic has overwhelmed the healthcare systems\, wrecked economies and destroyed livelihoods\, and the worst is not over yet. Huge uncertainties prevail over the duration of the pandemic and the resulting impact on economic activities. \nAs governments and policy makers across the globe struggle to limit the fall-out from the pandemic through the use of fiscal and monetary policy measures\, economies are contracting by unprecedented levels. Indian economy\, for instance\, contracted by 23.9% during the first quarter of FY21. Unlike advance economies like the US and UK\, emerging economies have less fiscal space at their disposal while facing an ongoing need to spend on relief and stimulus measures. \nAlbert Einstein famously said that “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”Finding opportunities\, however\, in an environment of gloom and uncertainty is not only difficult but can also pose challenges in implementation. While some opportunities lie within national boundaries\, others require a robust cooperation between countries. Given the sheer magnitude of the economic fallout due to the pandemic\, it is not difficult to foresee a move towards economic isolation and trade wars. However\, a cooperative behavior that results in debt write-downs\, and multilateral loans to effected countries can not only limit the negative impact of the pandemic but can also help countries rebuild their economies. \nIdentification of opportunities is not obvious since the crisis is global and each country is differently affected by it. Policy makers in emerging economies will have to re-imagine economic relationships and look for opportunities. Where are the opportunities and what is the policy response required to exploit these opportunities? \nTheme: Re-imagining Opportunities in the Shadow of Uncertainty: An Emerging Economy Perspective\nThe conclave will have a formal inauguration followed by discussions in two subsequent tracks. Interactive student workshops would be conducted in the second half of the day. Undergraduate and Post Graduate student contests shall be run before the conclaves. \nRead More

SUMMARY:International Conference On Sustainability and Equity : Digital Society
DESCRIPTION:International Conference On\n Sustainability and Equity : Digital Society\nTheme of the Conference: Digital Society\nIn contemporary modern world\, sustainability is a major concern for human being. Both history and literature indicate that human being has been doing activities those challenge its own existence survival\, and sustainability. Challenges such as climate change\, global warming\, resource scarcity\, increasing inequity\, social cleavages\, decreasing biodiversity and an ever increasing resource-rich lifestyle (Lorek & Fuchs\, 2011) have been challenging the human civilization’s sustainability. Sustainability can be explained as how natural systems function\, and produce everything that meet the needs of the current generation users without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs\, while keeping the system remain in balance. Sustainability takes into account how we need to live in synchronization with the natural world around us. In the contemporary world\, humanity uses about 40% more resources than nature can regenerate in a year (Global Footprint Network\, 2010). At some day\, the human civilization might be without its essential resources to survive and continue. These resources need to be optimally used and regenerated at the same rate as the rate of consumption or exhaustion. Not only the use of resources\, but also every activity\, practice\, technology\, and infrastructure has to be sustainable. Sustainability relates to equity. We can not have one without the other. Equity is about fairness among all. Inter generational equity i.e. a reasonable balance between satisfying our needs now and keeping and saving enough to provide for needs of the future generations is critical for sustainability. Furthermore\, for sustainability\, equity across forms of life such as humans and non-humans is as essential as equity across generations of human life. \nRead More

SUMMARY:9th National HR Conclave
DESCRIPTION:Future of Work\nFor the past several years\, different aspects of FOW have been unfolding (a) the growth of off-balance sheet employment\, talent platforms\, and crowd-sourcing (b) the increasing power of robotics and cognitive computing to restructure jobs and (c) the benefits and challenges of managing talent in the sharing and collaborative economy. These changes collectively have come into focus now and the issues have become more urgent. \nThe different force of change includes:  \nTechnology: Technological advances\, for example\, in the areas of robotics\, artificial intelligence (AI)\, sensors\, and data have created entirely new ways of getting work done that are\, in some cases\, upending the way we use and think about our tools and how people and machines can complement and substitute for one another. \nCustomer empowerment and the rise of global talent markets: Market trends will also play a role in shaping the future of work. In responding to both changing customer demand and the ability to address labor needs more flexibly\, the power of pull will likely lead to much tighter alignment of work with customer needs. A growing array of digital platforms is making it easier for potential employers (and customers directly to find the most appropriate talent anywhere in the world and to pull that talent together to perform specific tasks. \nDemographics: Demographic changes are shifting the composition of the global workforce. In most places\, people are living longer than ever\, and overall\, the population is becoming both older and younger\, with individual nations becoming more diverse. Even more challenging\, the younger generations will be increasingly concentrated in developing economies\, while the developed economies (and China) get ever older. \n This has far reaching implications for individuals\, organizations and public policies.
