SUMMARY:11th National Finance Konclave on Re-imagining Opportunities in the Shadow of Uncertainty: An Emerging Economy Perspective
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 pandemic has created difficult conditions in almost all sectors of the global economy. It has changed many aspects of the economy and society\, some perhaps permanently. Over the last 9 months the pandemic has overwhelmed the healthcare systems\, wrecked economies and destroyed livelihoods\, and the worst is not over yet. Huge uncertainties prevail over the duration of the pandemic and the resulting impact on economic activities. \nAs governments and policy makers across the globe struggle to limit the fall-out from the pandemic through the use of fiscal and monetary policy measures\, economies are contracting by unprecedented levels. Indian economy\, for instance\, contracted by 23.9% during the first quarter of FY21. Unlike advance economies like the US and UK\, emerging economies have less fiscal space at their disposal while facing an ongoing need to spend on relief and stimulus measures. \nAlbert Einstein famously said that “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”Finding opportunities\, however\, in an environment of gloom and uncertainty is not only difficult but can also pose challenges in implementation. While some opportunities lie within national boundaries\, others require a robust cooperation between countries. Given the sheer magnitude of the economic fallout due to the pandemic\, it is not difficult to foresee a move towards economic isolation and trade wars. However\, a cooperative behavior that results in debt write-downs\, and multilateral loans to effected countries can not only limit the negative impact of the pandemic but can also help countries rebuild their economies. \nIdentification of opportunities is not obvious since the crisis is global and each country is differently affected by it. Policy makers in emerging economies will have to re-imagine economic relationships and look for opportunities. Where are the opportunities and what is the policy response required to exploit these opportunities? \nTheme: Re-imagining Opportunities in the Shadow of Uncertainty: An Emerging Economy Perspective\nThe conclave will have a formal inauguration followed by discussions in two subsequent tracks. Interactive student workshops would be conducted in the second half of the day. Undergraduate and Post Graduate student contests shall be run before the conclaves. \nRead More

SUMMARY:11th National Marketing Konclave on Marketing@NewNormal
DESCRIPTION:“Markets always change faster than marketing.” Today\, more than ever\, markets change and develop rapidly. Philip Kotler reminds us that marketers strive to keep up with the pace\, as dictated by the markets. \nCOVID-19 global pandemic has upheaved life of the populace. Marketing is at the face when it comes to uncertainty across all business organisations. Consumer buying behaviour and consumption have made radical changes in a very short span of time\, and many marketers predicts that at least some of those behaviours will stick around. It’s important that we recognise the changed marketing landscape and redefine marketing strategies considering the new normal. Today consumers are re-evaluating existing brand relationships. Some of the new habits will become the new normal even after the crisis passes. It is time for brands to focus on instilling confidence in customers. In order to be relevant it is necessary that communication in all channels are authentic\, credible and positive. Being empathetic and prioritizing customer experience may help brand stand out. Marketer need to be agile in crafting solutions to relaunching their brands. Marketing is a blend of art and science. Now it is critical to ensure right marketing analysis through a disciplined approach combining marketing intelligence and marketing research. The trust-building process goes hand in hand with both customer acquisition and retention. Marketing\, advertising and public relation have traditionally been tasked with trust-building and improving the customer experience. \nHowever\, today’s customers no longer solely depend on those mass-communications to get information and form opinions about a brand. Companies must dig deeper and examine every interaction. Positive customer experiences through trust-building can strengthen both customer relationships and retention. Now that we are living in a multichannel digital age\, companies are discovering that consumers are more in control of how they want to communicate with different brand. Consumers have now added a new attribute to all categories- hygiene safety. For any business that has a physical interaction with the consumer\, hygiene has assumed a new meaning and moved up in the attribute hierarchy. Some business may not be able to return to the way things were\, and we don’t know what the future holds. Marketer need to explore new horizons. Now is the time to adopt smarter marketing strategies that will allow marketer to do more with less! \nRead More

SUMMARY:International Conference On Sustainability and Equity : Digital Society
DESCRIPTION:International Conference On\n Sustainability and Equity : Digital Society\nTheme of the Conference: Digital Society\nIn contemporary modern world\, sustainability is a major concern for human being. Both history and literature indicate that human being has been doing activities those challenge its own existence survival\, and sustainability. Challenges such as climate change\, global warming\, resource scarcity\, increasing inequity\, social cleavages\, decreasing biodiversity and an ever increasing resource-rich lifestyle (Lorek & Fuchs\, 2011) have been challenging the human civilization’s sustainability. Sustainability can be explained as how natural systems function\, and produce everything that meet the needs of the current generation users without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs\, while keeping the system remain in balance. Sustainability takes into account how we need to live in synchronization with the natural world around us. In the contemporary world\, humanity uses about 40% more resources than nature can regenerate in a year (Global Footprint Network\, 2010). At some day\, the human civilization might be without its essential resources to survive and continue. These resources need to be optimally used and regenerated at the same rate as the rate of consumption or exhaustion. Not only the use of resources\, but also every activity\, practice\, technology\, and infrastructure has to be sustainable. Sustainability relates to equity. We can not have one without the other. Equity is about fairness among all. Inter generational equity i.e. a reasonable balance between satisfying our needs now and keeping and saving enough to provide for needs of the future generations is critical for sustainability. Furthermore\, for sustainability\, equity across forms of life such as humans and non-humans is as essential as equity across generations of human life. \nRead More

SUMMARY:9th National HR Conclave
DESCRIPTION:Future of Work\nFor the past several years\, different aspects of FOW have been unfolding (a) the growth of off-balance sheet employment\, talent platforms\, and crowd-sourcing (b) the increasing power of robotics and cognitive computing to restructure jobs and (c) the benefits and challenges of managing talent in the sharing and collaborative economy. These changes collectively have come into focus now and the issues have become more urgent. \nThe different force of change includes:  \nTechnology: Technological advances\, for example\, in the areas of robotics\, artificial intelligence (AI)\, sensors\, and data have created entirely new ways of getting work done that are\, in some cases\, upending the way we use and think about our tools and how people and machines can complement and substitute for one another. \nCustomer empowerment and the rise of global talent markets: Market trends will also play a role in shaping the future of work. In responding to both changing customer demand and the ability to address labor needs more flexibly\, the power of pull will likely lead to much tighter alignment of work with customer needs. A growing array of digital platforms is making it easier for potential employers (and customers directly to find the most appropriate talent anywhere in the world and to pull that talent together to perform specific tasks. \nDemographics: Demographic changes are shifting the composition of the global workforce. In most places\, people are living longer than ever\, and overall\, the population is becoming both older and younger\, with individual nations becoming more diverse. Even more challenging\, the younger generations will be increasingly concentrated in developing economies\, while the developed economies (and China) get ever older. \n This has far reaching implications for individuals\, organizations and public policies.

SUMMARY:Online International Conference on Covid19: Lives and Livelihood
DESCRIPTION:As we know\, India has a high population density combined with poor hygiene standards and creaky health infrastructure\, which makes it more vulnerable to the pandemic. Recently\, COVID-19 has spread over 210 countries\, infecting beyond 2 million people\, with more than 1\,37\,000 fatalities. The only remedy which is available with government till now is to keep the country under lockdown condition which gives rise to an alarming question: “whether to extend the lockdown and divert resources to save lives? Or\, should the attempt be to end the lockdown\, revive the economy and protect livelihood of the people? “There are no easy answers…\nQuestions hang heavy in the air; far too many with few or no answers coming from anywhere. The most pressing question is how long the lock- down would last. Even as economists warn that a longer lockdown would cause even more havoc to employment\, economy and livelihood\, the government’s dilemma is whether to save lives or livelihood in the short run. \n  \nBy looking into the present scenario\, Rajiv Kumar\, Vice Chairman of NitiAayog gave a much convincing statement that “India should improve its disaster management preparation and ensure the availability of resources so that the country doesn’t have to choose between ‘lives and livelihood’ during crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic”. He also addressed a global conference organized by Bennett University titled “COVID 19 – Fallout & Future” where he said “I hope we will not have to continuously try this tradeoff or balance between saving lives and livelihoods”. So\, by far we can understand that the COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global crisis of present time and the greatest global humanitarian challenge the world has faced ever. As government is taking measures to slow down the spread of the virus\, it has been spreading widely\, and the number of cases is rising on daily basis. India has moved quickly\, implementing a proactive\, nationwide lockdown\, with the goal of flattening the curve and using the time to plan and resource responses adequately. \nRead More

SUMMARY:Webinar on Leadership With Humanism And Compassion: Transforming Lives Through Crisis
DESCRIPTION:Life in the lives of people is essential for sustainability of lives. If lives of people will be lifeless\, the lives will be at stake. Often in crisis\, people seem to lose life i.e. happiness\, positivity\, hope and interest in life. In such a situation of crisis\, mentors and guides play a crucial role in the lives of people. Leaders in organizations can play the roles of mentors to guide others through crisis. Crisis deprives people of their want\, luxury\, need and even essentials. Rumors propagate. Resources get scarce. People get panic. These situations need leaders with humanism and compassion. They need to be humans and behave as humans. They need to be emotionally intelligent. Being self aware and self regulated at one hand\, leaders need to be empathetic\, and selfless while having social skills and required motivation to transform the lives of people in crisis. Leaders need to build trust in people\, communicate the correct information\, need to make them feel strong\, motivate and inspire them\, focus on their priorities\, create hope and stand with them in the time of crisis. The people will follow the leader if they trust that the leader can make them through the crisis. This webinar will reflect on the aspects of leadership that will help transform the lives of people in crisis. \nRegister for event onlineSpeaker\nProf. (Dr.) Sasmita Samanta\nPro Vice Chancellor\, KIIT DU\nWebinar Coordinator\nProf. (Dr.) Jyotiranjan Gochhayat\nAsst.
