DESCRIPTION:Open Source Initiative: What NextThe Open Source Initiative (OSI) was instrumental in the formalization of the open-source movement. In February 1998\, the open-source movement was adopted\, formalized\, and spearheaded by the Open Source Initiative (OSI)\, an organization formed to market software “as something more amenable to commercial business use. The software developments that have come out of the open-source movement have not been unique to the computer-science field\, but they have been successful in developing alternatives to proprietary software. Members of the open-source community improve upon code and write programs that can rival much of the Proprietary software that is already available. The purpose behind the open source movement is to promote business\, economics and free and easy access of information resources to academics. Keeping the objectives in mind this national seminar sets its theme\, “Open Source Movement: What Next”. The goal of the seminar is to provide a glimpse of future scenario of information management\, acquisition\, preservation and control in regard to the latest trends and future dimensions of open access movement. It is a million dollar question how library and information scientists will transcend to the next higher level embracing the platform of open access moment. DESCRIPTION:KIIT & KISS in collaboration with UMAP will be hosting UMAP Discovery Winter Camp 2023UMAP Discovery Camp 2030: Future is now will majorly focus on SDGS related to EEE i.e Equality\, Energy and Environment. KIIT and KISS at the forefront of sustainability work in teaching and research\, the university has been highly ranked three years in a row in Times Higher Education’s ranking for its work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. KIIT has recently been placed in the cohort of 600-800 in World University ranking 2023 by Times Higher Education. Students from all UMAP member universities are welcome to work in teams at KIIT and KISS University to address real life challenges related to SDGs such as: Reduced inequality\, Affordable and clean Energy\, Sustainable production and consumption\, and strong\, democratic and engaging institutions for all. The winter camp aims to facilitate student-community involvement\, enhance intercultural skills\, and build relationships between participants from different cultures. Our social programme will include a welcome and farewell ceremony as well as day trips and social activities\, allowing students to experience sustainability initiatives. Not only the use of resources\, but also every activity\, practice\, technology\, and infrastructure has to be sustainable. Sustainability relates to equity. We can’t have one without the other. Equity is about fairness among all. Inter generational equity i.e. a reasonable balance between satisfying our needs now and keeping and saving enough to provide for needs of the future generations is critical for sustainability. For sustainability\, equity across forms of life such as humans and non-humans is as essential as equity across generations of human life.
