Orissa Chemical Society was established in the year 1985 with Prof. Mahendra Kumar Rout as it’s Founder President. The aim and the objectives of OCS are: (i) to promote, improve the standard of teaching and research in Chemistry and allied science in Odisha, (ii) to organize conferences and symposium for further improvements in teaching and research in Chemistry. (iii) to create public awareness regarding the environmental impacts of the use of various chemicals in our daily lives, (iv) to bring out the journal/ magazine in chemistry, and (v) to popularize the discipline of chemistry. It emerges as a premier chemical science organization envisions in the country with many more activities catering to the needs of chemical scientists in interdisciplinary fields, with a slogan “Excellence in Teaching and Research“. The society embraces all with the promise of equal opportunity. Till date more than 1500 chemists have been enrolled as life and patron members of the society.
