15 KIIT Students Represented India At Paris Olympics 2024

In a significant achievement for KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU), 15 students successfully qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024, bringing pride and joy to the institution.

Sports Highlights

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), two sister institutions established in Bhubaneswar by visionary educationist and social activist Dr. Achyuta Samanta, are two sides of the same coin. KIIT is a professional institute with about 40,000 students enrolled in 200 plus disciplines.

Arjun Awardee Athletes

Arjuna Award, conferred by the Govt. of India, is the second highest sporting honour of India. Eight outstanding athletes from KIIT have been decorated with the Arjuna Award.

KIITians Shine in India’s Historic Asiad Glory

India showcased outstanding performance at the 19th Asian Games hosted in Hangzhou, China,achieving a remarkable feat with its best-ever medal haul of 107 medals. Students from KIIT played avital role in this historic accomplishment, clinching four medals, including two gold medals, and making a significant contribution to the nation’s success.

Rising from Sundargarh: Amit Rohidas is regarded as one of the best first rushers in the Indian hockey team and featured in close to 200 international matches for India.

Tajinderpal Singh Toor

An Indian shot putter who is a two-time Asian champion, an Asian Games gold-medallist, four time national champion, the former Asian record holder and the current holder of the national record of 21.77m.

Kishore Jena

Kishore Kumar Jena is an Indian javelin thrower. He rose to prominence after winning the silver medal in the men’s javelin event at the 2022 Asian Games. Jena represented India at the 2024 Paris Olympics, competing in the men’s javelin event.

Tejaswin Shankar

An Indian track and field athlete who specializes in high jump and decathlon. He made history by winning India’s first-ever high jump medal at the Commonwealth Games, clinching bronze at the 2022 edition in Birmingham.

FIVB

KISS – A Knowledge Hub for Volleyball in India & South Asia

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has signed an MoU with the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) for the growth and development of youth volleyball in India and South Asia. The MoU was signed between FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F and KIIT & KISS Founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta at the FIVB Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland on 14th December 2022. This is the first time that FIVB has forged ties with an educational institute to promote and popularise the game.

World’s First-Ever FIFA Football for School Programme Launched at KISS

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS),Bhubaneswar, in an initiative never before, has launched the world’s first ever FIFA Football for School Programme at KISS. Shri Naveen Patnaik, Former Chief Minister of Odisha virtually launched the Programme on 27th October 2021. Football for Schools (F4S) is an ambitious world-wide programme run by FIFA, which aims to contribute to the education, development and empowerment of around 700 million children.

AICF INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP

The All India Chess Federation (AICF) has granted institutional membership to KIIT Deemed to be University in recognition of its efforts in the promotion of chess in Odisha and across the country.

KIIT-KISS -ASSOCIATE SPONSOR OF RUGBY INDIA

The KIIT and KISS-DU has entered into an agreement with the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to promote and popularise Rugby both at the grassroots level and the high performance level.

The First Janjatiya Khel Mahotsav At KIIT & KISS

KIIT and KIIT organized the first Janjatiya Khel Mahotsav with great enthusiasm from 9th to 12th June 2023. This grand sporting extravaganza attracted the participation of approximately 5,000 tribal athletes and 1,000 officials hailing from 26 states. Promoting traditional sports and tribal culture, this unique event was a joint initiative of the Ministry of Culture and the Odisha Government.

School of Sports & Yoga Sciences

KIIT School of Sports and Yogic Sciences is committed to pursue excellence in teaching and learning to bring about improvement in life. The School strives to adopt best practices of modern sports sciences, physical education methodologies and traditional yogic sciences. More than 1.5 lakh sports persons participate in different sports events every year organized by KIIT where we motivate and teach them the management skill
