Dr. Muhammad Yunus, born on June 28, 1940, in Chittagong, Bangladesh, is the distinguished Founder of Grameen Bank and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Known as the 'Banker to the Poor,' Dr. Yunus initiated groundbreaking work during the Bangladesh famine of 1974, leading to the creation of the Grameen Bank. The bank's innovative microfinance model, which boasts 97% women borrowers and near-zero default rates, has been replicated in over 100 countries.
