Professor Raju K.D. is the Pro-Vice Chancellor of KIIT Deemed University, Bhubaneswar. Previously, he served as a Professor of Law at the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
He was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship by the United States Education Foundation in India (USEFI) to pursue his doctoral studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. In 2011, he received the Microsoft Outstanding Young Faculty Award for his research on Intellectual Property and Competition Law, which was subsequently published as a book in 2015.
Professor Raju's expertise spans International Law, WTO, Trade and Economic Law, and Intellectual Property Law. A prolific scholar, he has authored approximately 35 book chapters, over 50 peer- reviewed articles in national and international journals, and 10 books.
His notable publications include Intellectual Property Laws in India; WTO Agreement on Anti-dumping: A GATT/WTO and Indian Jurisprudence (published by Kluwer Law International); Company Directors: Fiduciary Duties and Liabilities; and edited volumes such as The World Trade Organization and India: A Critical Study of Its First Decade, Genetically Modified Organisms: Emerging Law and Policy in India, and Interface Between Intellectual Property and Competition Law (Eastern Law House, Kolkata, 2015). His recent works include Submarine Cable Protection and Regulations (Springer), A Handbook on Geographical Indications in India (Thomson Reuters, 2022), and Geographical Indications in the Free Trade Agreements Signed by Asian Countries (Cambridge Scholars, 2024).
He has played a key role in securing the registration of several Geographical Indications from Odisha, including Sambalpur Bandha Saree & Fabrics, Bomkai Saree & Fabrics, Berhampur Patta Saree & Joda, Dhalapathar Parda and Fabrics, Habaspuri Saree & Fabrics, as well as Ganjam Kewda Rooh and Ganjam Kewda Flower.
